Trump Account calculator — and how the math compares with a 529.
Model long-term growth using current contribution rules, then compare the investment balance with education-focused 529 savings. The accounts have different tax treatment and permitted uses, so balance alone does not decide which is better.
Build a scenario
Enter the four-digit year, for example 2025.
2026 IRS general annual limit: $5,000. Ordinary + employer contributions generally share this limit.
2026 IRS employer limit: $2,500; it counts toward the general $5,000 limit. Higher entries are capped in this model.
This birth year falls within the federal pilot window.
The one-time $1,000 Treasury pilot contribution is available for otherwise eligible U.S. citizen children with valid SSNs born Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2028. An election is required.

529 comparison
At $5,000/year and the same 7% assumed return:
$154,201 at age 18
Contributions: $85,000. Qualified 529 education withdrawals can receive favorable federal tax treatment. A 529 is not economically identical to a Trump Account.

- • Beneficiary flexibility can matter for family planning.
Annual contribution limits are source-checked against IRS materials for 2026 before MFA activates a new year. Educational estimates only; tax treatment, investment restrictions and eligibility details can change.
